Going to university can be daunting - we know! Across two days, our experts run through all the need-to-know stuff to help you be absolutely prepared for your first semester. This is a unique opportunity to get ahead of the game, with extremely limited places. So don't delay making your booking!
We also offer ongoing mentoring support whilst you are university. This in no way replaces the excellent services provided by universities across the UK, but can be a useful extra opportunity to bounce ideas off an academic expert, or just to talk through difficulties and share successes. See our additional services page (available through the home page).

Applying to university is about far more than simply completing an application form. The Wessex Academia UCAS Application Studio is an intensive programme designed to help students produce the strongest possible application, with expert guidance at every stage of the process.
Whether you're applying to Oxford or Cambridge, Russell Group universities, specialist institutions or competitive professional courses, our experienced team will help you maximise your chances of success.
Unlike traditional lectures, the UCAS Application Studio combines practical workshops with personalised one-to-one support, ensuring every student leaves with meaningful progress towards a completed application.
✔ Small group workshops for a personalised experience.
✔ Individual appointments tailored to each student.
✔ Experienced university admissions specialists.
✔ Practical, hands-on support rather than passive lectures.
✔ Suitable for students applying to all UK universities.
By the end of the programme, students will have a clear understanding of the admissions process, greater confidence in their university choices and a significantly stronger UCAS application.

During the October and February half terms, we run a soft skills development course, looking at 21 key skills that will assist in life at university and as a fledgling academic. From resilience to time management, from academic writing to budgeting, students will look at all 21 skills in workshops over 5 days. Residential and day student options available.
The full list of skills covered: Time management, communication, teamwork, critical thinking, research, academic writing, leadership, confidence, adaptability, networking, organisation, presentation skills, reading, study skills, budgeting, creativity, handling constructive criticism, independent learning and resilience.

Also during the October and February half terms, we offer an academic immersive week. Across 5 days, students design a small piece of research, apply for ethical approval, get assigned a supervisor, collect data and process that data using various statistical skills, and learn the skill of academic writing and referencing. As academics often teach, so the student will also role play tutorial sessions, teaching their area of expertise to other students. This course would suit students who are looking to enter academic careers, rather than as practitioners.
Accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and an entertainments package for the evenings.
The basics option - the 21 soft skills workshops Monday to Friday only. Lunch is provided, but students will need to source their own accommodation.
